Water-cooled laser welders (1.5–3kW) use an industrial cooling system for high-duty-cycle production environments. Air-cooled models (0.9–1.2kW) use a compact cooling design suited for portable or smaller-footprint applications. Water-cooled systems handle longer continuous run times and higher power, while air-cooled units offer simpler setup and mobility.

Handheld laser welding is 4–6x faster than TIG welding for most production welds. The laser delivers concentrated energy with a narrow heat-affected zone, reducing distortion, spatter, and the need for post-weld cleanup or rework — allowing a single operator to match the output of multiple TIG welders.
